Home Retrofits

A home retrofit is a service provided by a building performance contractor, like Bright Ideas. After the energy audit is completed, we enter all of your home’s information into our computer software which allows us to experiment a large variety of improvement (or retrofits) specifically tailored to your home. These could include air sealing, insulation, appliance replacement, duct work, new windows, heating plant improvement or replacement, and many others. The software helps us determine which of these improvements will give you the greatest savings for the smallest investment.

After agreeing with the homeowner about which repairs they would like us to complete, we agree on a price, make the improvements and submit the paperwork for the rebates from NYSERDA and the Home Performance with Energy Star programs. Because we are accredited, you know the work will be completed to nationally accepted standards and you’ll begin to see the savings immediately.
